Trichotomy
Winners of the prestigious 2021 and 2022 Qld Music Award for Best Jazz Song, Danny Widdicombe and Trichotomy have built a strong reputation for the quality of both their captivating live performances and acclaimed recordings.
Their cross genre collaboration was born from the idea of merging Danny’s modern-folk song writing and finger style guitar approach, with Trichotomy’s virtuosic jazz musicianship and innate musicality.
Their album ‘Between the Lines’ topped album of the year charts all over the country including being Album of the Week in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane news media.
In their short history together, the award winning Danny and Trichotomy have already played major Qld festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Redland Bay Festival, and Qld Music Festival.
Danny Widdicombe has won the coveted GW McLennan Fellowship, two Qld Music Awards, has three ARIA Award nominations with his band The Wilson Pickers, and has toured the world singing his songs.
His 10 studio albums cover a broad spectrum of musical genres such as modern folk, blues, country, bluegrass, rock, jazz, ambient and electronic. Danny has also played lead guitar for Bernard Fanning, Tim Rogers, The Go- Betweens and many more.
Trichotomy are made up of Sean Foran on piano, John Parker on percussion and Samuel Vincent on double bass. Each of them have become masters of their instruments and have been acclaimed as soloists and as a band internationally, playing large festivals through Europe, Asia and the Americas.
Together, Danny and Trichotomy have courageously refused to be pigeon holed into any one genre of music and are determined to make the most beautiful and engaging music they can dream up.
